MODERN LIVING TV FEATURE: CASA DEL FLORO
During the feature on Modern Living TV, I was asked about the design inspirations and challenges faced during the process of the project. As to what, Bianca Gonzales said, I leaned towards Filipiñana fused with contemporary elements since I wanted the project to be seen as Modern Pinoy. With this being said, we created our own Capiz pieces, we added certain wood effects and Abaca as well, to which helped Casa del Floro to have that Pinoy Vibe.
The challenges were: putting a swimming pool on a 285 sqm property and finding the best design that would be effective for four kids and a big family, with a small budget for the interiors while completing the requests of sir Gelo. The solutions were: to have rough finishes in terms of the flooring, to not put the ceiling anymore and to invest more on the furnishing and finishing; to create spaces for them to which we custom built all the furniture for the space to look large.
Although it may look like it's impossible to overcome those challenges, all I can say is that it's achievable. With my team, a site full of trust, confidence and patience, it eventually became one of the most successful sites that I ever had.
I would like to thank Ms. Kathleen Pador and the Modern Living staff for featuring this awesome project!
Love,
Gara
